Green Bay interns respond to some police calls

CSIs to handle more than 10,000 cases this year

GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Green Bay Police Department estimates interns will handle more than 10,000 minor cases this year, freeing sworn officers to handle more serious crimes.

The Community Service Interns, or CSIs, respond to calls about criminal damage to property, theft or parking complaints. CSI Riley Peterson said the work provides valuable experience on his road to becoming a police officer.

The interns are not armed, but do have backup if necessary. WBAY-TV reported the interns also patrol parks and work closely with neighborhood associations.
