TOWN OF PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The Grant County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating a vehicle that was reported stolen Thursday that may be connected to other thefts in the area, according to a release.

On Wednesday, Grant County deputies were involved in attempting to locate a vehicle that was reported stolen from the village of Gays Mills, and was used in several attempted burglaries in the city of Dubuque, according to the release.
Deputies found the vehicle near Platteville and attempted to stop it, but the vehicle fled, officials said. The deputy stopped the pursuit once the vehicle entered Lafayette County.
A short time later the vehicle was seen heading back into Platteville on Highway 151, and ultimately the vehicle was abandoned by the two occupants in Platteville, according to the release. Officers spent several hours attempting to locate the occupants, but were unsuccessful.
Around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, a caller reported seeing two men matching the description of the occupants that fled the stolen vehicle in the area of Stumptown Road in the town of Platteville, officials said. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate anyone.
