MADISON, Wis. - One man was beaten to unconsciousness and another man suffered cuts to his face and hands after others broke windows at a campus-area house party near Camp Randall Stadium, Madison police said.
The incidents occurred at a house party in the 100 block of North Breese Terrace early Saturday morning, according to Madison Police Department incident reports.
A battery victim contacted Madison police Sunday evening wanting to report what happened to him early Saturday morning, around 12:18 a.m.
The victim, a 20-year-old Madison man, originally wasn't going to call police, but he changed his mind when he went to a hospital and learned he had a concussion.
He said he had been at a large house party when someone acting as a bouncer kicked him out. The victim said the "bouncer" punched him multiple times and pushed him over the railing of a small first-floor porch.
The victim said he landed on gravel and was punched and kicked by five men who encircled him, police said. The victim said he believed he lost consciousness at some point, according to police.
A female friend of the victim threw herself over him and brought the attack to an end, police said.
In the other incident, a 23-year-old Merrimac man suffered cuts to his face and hands after a person dressed in a firefighter's costume punched out an outside door window while the house party was in progress.
The victim was on the other side of the window as it broke. Witnesses said a second man, dressed in a "Waldo" costume, smashed a bedroom window around the same time, according to the incident report.
The witnesses told police they thought the window breakers were together.
Police said they are investigating whether the two cases at the house party might be connected.
