DODGEVILLE, Wis. - Two crashes closed the southbound and northbound lanes of Highway 151 for about an hour Saturday afternoon near Dodgeville, according to a release.
Iowa County sheriff's deputies were dispatched to reports of a single-vehicle rollover crash on Highway 151 at mile marker 46 around 1:15 p.m., officials said.
Witnesses reported that a Ford Explorer was traveling at posted speed limits when one of its tires blew out, causing the vehicle to roll over, according to the release. The vehicle stopped on the outside northbound lane.
A 6-year-old child and the unrestrained driver, Curtis Gillenwater, 35, had to be extricated from the vehicle, deputies said. Jennifer Culver, 32, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. Travis Jones, 32, was a passenger in the back of the vehicle. All occupants of the vehicle were from Dubuque, Iowa.
Gillenwater was transported by Med Flight, and all of the other occupants were taken by ambulance to Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville, according to the release. Culver was transported by Med Flight from Upland Hills Health to UW Hospital.
All occupants sustained non-life-threatening injuries, deputies said.
Highway 151 northbound traffic was rerouted through Dodgeville at exit 44 until the scene was cleared, according to the release. While crews were at the scene, a second crash happened just before 1:40 p.m. in the southbound lanes.
The crash happened perpendicular to the rollover crash and involved two vehicles, officials said. Southbound traffic was rerouted through Dodgeville at exit 47 due to the second crash.
All occupants of the vehicles involved in the second crash were transported to Upland Hills Health with minor injuries, according to the release.
Traffic on Highway 151 was reopened at 2:20 p.m.
