Janesville police said they arrested a 58-year-old man early Thursday morning on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated for the fifth time after they saw a car with expired plates weaving down the highway.
The incident happened around 1:20 a.m. Thursday on the corner of West Milwaukee Street and South Academy.
According to police, an officer was patrolling downtown Janesville when he saw Arthur Thomas, 58, in his car deviating from his lane of traffic. The officer pulled over Thomas, and noticed he smelled of alcohol and was slurring his speech.
Police said Thomas admitted to taking prescription narcotics prior to driving. Police said Thomas's driver's license was revoked, and he failed field sobriety tests at the scene. He is being held at the Rock County Jail.
