MADISON, Wis. -

A man is dead after falling at the Edgewater Hotel construction site Monday afternoon, officials said.

Crews were dispatched just after 2 p.m. to the construction site at 666 Wisconsin Ave., officials said.

Findorff’s vice president Brian Hornung confirmed a male Findorff employee was pronounced dead on the site by the medical examiner, but won’t say how the “serious accident” happened.

“Authorities are currently investigating further details, and are now trying to notify family. Unfortunately, our heart does go out to the family,” Hornung said.

A spokesperson for OSHA said the agency is pursuing an inspection, but there is no timeline for when that might be complete.

Madison police and fire department officials said officers and fire investigators are no longer involved in the death investigation.

Bob Dunn, the developer of the Edgewater, released a statement Monday night: "A tragic accident involving a worker at the Edgewater site occurred this afternoon. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the worker's family, friends and co-workers. All of us in The Edgewater family are deeply saddened and extend our condolences to the worker's family."
