Dane County Humane Society staff and veterinarians are expecting a bald eagle that was brought to their facility with injuries to make a fully recovery, according to a statement.
The DCHS typically only gets one or two bald eagles a year at their Four Lakes Wildlife Center, and the first one came in from Crawford County on Thursday, officials said.
The female bald eagle was brought in after being found grounded near the Mississippi River, according to the release. An exam and X-rays showed she has a broken major metacarpal bone in her wing.
The DCHS’ vet was able to splint the fracture and is hopeful she will make a full recovery, officials said.
