Hundreds gather in Milwaukee for immigration march
Marchers want reform, better protection for migrant workers
Hundreds of people are gathered in a park along the Milwaukee River to call for immigration reform and better protections for immigrant workers.
Joe Shansky is the spokesman for Voces de la Frontera, which organized the May Day march and rally.
He said many of the immigrants who would have a path to citizenship under the bipartisan immigration legislation pending in the Senate are worried about those who wouldn't be covered. The bill excludes people who arrived in the United States after 2011.
Shansky said another concern among many younger immigrants is that while they could qualify for citizenship in five years, their parents would have to wait 13 years.
