Officials ID driver killed in I39/90 crash
SUV crossed median, struck by semi, report says
Officials said the driver of an SUV was killed in a crash on Interstate 39 and 90 Tuesday morning.
The Wisconsin State Patrol said an SUV was traveling west on the interstate at 6:34 a.m. when it went through the median and entered eastbound traffic. The crash occurred at mile marker 171 on the railroad overpass bridge.
A semitrailer was not able to stop and struck the SUV, the report said. The man driving the SUV, Timothy Earl McKinley, 37, of Milton, was unresponsive at the scene and later pronounced dead at Janesville Mercy Hospital.
The semitrailer driver, Kyle Jacob Schaefer, 23, of Beloit, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, State Patrol said.
The crash temporarily blocked traffic on southbound I-39 during the Tuesday morning commute.
Time McKinley was the dean of students at Sennett Middle School on Madison's east side.
