A former Jefferson County sheriff's sergeant was found guilty of misconduct in public office, according to a release from the Wisconsin Department of Justice.
A criminal complaint said Timothy Madson filled out multiple expense reports as supervisor of the Jefferson County Drug Task Force from 2003 to 2011. It said Madson received more than $20,000 in reimbursement from task force funds. The complaint says he sought reimbursement for work performed by other officers he supervised on the task force. Madson was in charge of approving those expense claims.
A charge of theft was dismissed on a defense motion.
A Waukesha County judge presided over the Jefferson County trial that ended Friday.
Madson is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 1.
