A 52-year-old hunter is dead and another injured after a being hit by a vehicle in Taylor County.
According to a news release from the county sheriff's office, several hunters were standing on or near County Line Road when a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed approached them at about 5 p.m. Friday. Two hunters were unable to move and were hit.
A 52-year-old man died on the scene. A 53-year-old man was taken to a hospital with leg injuries. Both were from Roscoe, Ill.
The vehicle's driver was a 42-year-old Sheldon resident who was taken by helicopter to the hospital.
The department says speed and alcohol may be contributing factors.
The names of those involved were not immediately released, pending notification of family members.
