MADISON, Wis. -

Two Iowa County brothers were charged Wednesday with attempted homicide, according to a release from the Department of Justice.

Brandon Behrens was charged with attempted homicide while armed with a dangerous weapon, strangulation and substantial battery while armed with a dangerous weapon, according to the release.

Shane Behrens was charged with attempted homicide while armed with a dangerous weapon, substantial battery, and substantial battery while armed with a dangerous weapon and recklessly endangering safety while armed with a dangerous weapon.

Both brothers were also charged with being a party to the crime of reckless injury while armed with a dangerous weapon.

The criminal complaint alleges the brothers attended a party in Arena where a fight took place Oct. 27, 2012. The brothers are accused of injuring five people at the party, who were treated for stab wounds and broken bones.

An initial appearance is scheduled for Aug. 28, according to the release.
