JUNEAU, Wis. -

The Dodge County Sheriff's Office announced the availability of a prescription drug drop box in the Sheriff's Office.

According to a release from the sheriff, the box will allow residents to deposit unwanted, unused or expired prescription drugs. The program is aimed to deter the abuse of prescription drugs to get high.

The box was a part of a grant offered to the county through the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators.

According to the release, prescription drugs are the No. 1 substance abused in American teens because they are easy to access in the home.

The box will be located on the lower level of the Sheriff's Office in Juneau. It will be accessible to the public 24 hours a day.
