A Janesville man accused of brutally stabbing his roommate and murdering his girlfriend in May was back in court Monday.
Clayton Courtney faces charges of first-degree attempted intentional homicide and first-degree intentional homicide.
During his preliminary hearing, a Janesville police detective recounted evidence linking him to the death of Britney Cross.
"There was a band camp shirt, there was a Wisconsin Badgers flat-brimmed baseball hat, there was a white T-shirt, there was also a small green new testament pocket Bible all located in the same vicinity as the body," Janesville Police Detective Mark Johnson said.
Johnson testified that DNA from Courtney and Cross was found on several items at the scene.
Courtney is being held on $600,000 bond.
He will be back in court for arraignment Aug. 6.
