PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -

A report of a missing lawnmower led to a man being threatened with a knife and an attempt to bite a deputy, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called to a home in the 5200 block of Classic Lane in Platteville Wednesday afternoon for a report of a missing lawnmower. Before deputies arrived, the man with the missing lawnmower had gone to the home of James Haslow, 20, of Platteville, to confront him about the lawnmower, according to deputies.

The two men argued and Haslow pulled a knife and threatened the victim with it, according to deputies.

Investigators said they determined Haslow was not telling the truth and was arrested on suspicion of obstructing an officer. Haslow resisted arrest and tried to bite a deputy, according to deputies. He was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest.

Deputies said the matter of the missing lawnmower is not yet resolved.
The victim was cited for disorderly conduct for going to Haslow’s home unannounced, according to deputies.
