MADISON, Wis. -

Dane County Executive Joe Parisi spoke out Tuesday on the ongoing effort to find daytime shelter for the city’s chronically homeless population.

With this winter’s extreme weather, many homeless people in the Madison area are getting help from local churches and shelters, but Parisi said he wants to have something permanent in place by next winter.

“Our goal is to centralize the services so that we have a one-stop shop. It’s a more efficient way of delivering services. It’s easier for folks who need to use those services,” Parisi said.

Parisi said the county is considering a handful of locations, including the Marc Center on the east side and Hospitality House. He hopes to finalize the location soon.
