A Maryland mother is accused of leaving her two young children in a cold car so she could get her makeup done.

Police were called to a mall in Charles County on Tuesday night after someone reported hearing children crying inside a Cadillac Escalade in the parking lot, Washington, D.C., TV station WUSA reported.

Two girls, ages 3 and 6, were found inside.

While they were wearing coats, temperatures hovered around 16 degrees outside, and police put them inside their squad cars to warm them up.

Their mother, 28-year-old Regina Marie Coleman, initially told police she was trying to find her wallet, but police later discovered she had been inside the mall for more than 90 minutes getting her makeup done, WUSA reported.

She has been charged with child neglect.
