MADISON, Wis. -

The City of Madison announced that it received four responses from real estate development teams for a downtown redevelopment project.

Judge Doyle Square is a two-block area one block east of the capitol and is the current site of the Madison Municipal Building and the Government East parking garage. The area is slated for redevelopment following a December study on the feasibility of turning the zone into a hotel.

A city news release said the project will unite the Capitol Square and Monona Terrace. It said the project plan is for mixed use – comprising of hotel, residential, retail and restaurant real estate. A current plan includes a newly built parking ramp and a bicycle facility.

Project proposals were submitted by real estate development teams, including three joint ventures from outside states.

The Judge Doyle Square Committee will meet Thursday to finalize which teams will be selected for interviews.
