A Waunakee bicyclist was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Tuesday afternoon after colliding with a truck, according to a release.
Around 1:35 p.m., Dane County sheriff’s deputies responded to a crash on Highway 113 just south of Highway V in the town of Vienna, officials said.
A FedEx truck being driven by Dean Cossette, 51, of Madison was traveling northbound on Highway 113 and attempted to pass a bicyclist, Mickel J. Paulson, 20, of Waunakee, going in the same direction, according to the release.
Deputies said when Cossette attempted to pass Paulson, the bike suddenly swerved in front of the truck.
Paulson was transported with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the release. Cossette was not injured.
Investigators are working to determine why Paulson swerved into the path of the trucks, officials said. No citations have been issued, but the crash remains under investigation,
