Madison police say they believe a fire at a garage attached to an apartment building was intentionally set.

Police and firefighters were called to the garage in the 1000 block of McKenna Boulevard at 8:28 a.m. on Tuesday for a report of a fire. The fire burned itself out and damage was limited.

Investigators said an accelerant was used.

Jason V. Holmes, 31, of Madison, was arrested on suspicion of arson.
Arson investigators said there was also an attempt to set fire to a car parked in a nearby lot.

The owner of the apartment had given Holmes five days to vacate because of problems between Holmes and other tenants, police said.
