Angry driver fires at motorist, police say
Several shots fired early Sunday morning
Several shots were fired in a road rage incident on Madison’s east side Sunday morning, according to Madison police.
A 35-year-old Mount Horeb man said he was a passenger in a car being driven by his friend, a 28-year-old Edgerton man, early Sunday morning as the two were returning from Wisconsin Dells when the incident started on South Stoughton Road.
He said they must have accidentally cut off the driver of a dark-colored SUV who then fired several rounds from the driver’s side window. He told police he could see muzzle flashes.
The shooter got out of the SUV at the intersection of Stoughton Road and East Washington Avenue and the witness said he had a handgun at his side, according to police. The men called for police and the shooter fled.
The shooter is described as black, in his 30s, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds with short hair and a goatee with other facial stubble but no mustache. He was wearing dark clothing.
