MADISON, Wis. -

Two Chicago residents were arrested Friday afternoon after leading police on a vehicle pursuit when they tried to stop them for complaints of fraudulent activity, according to a release.

Police responded to Sears in East Towne Mall around 3:50 p.m. for reports of a man attempting to buy merchandise fraudulently, officials said. As officers arrived, the man got into a U-Haul truck, which officers tried to stop.

The truck refused to stop and led police on a pursuit heading outbound on East Washington Avenue and then onto westbound Interstate 39/90, according to the release. Dane County Sheriff’s Office deputies and State Patrol troopers took over the pursuit, which ended near DeForest.

Albert J. Gordon, 48, and Ralph Williams, 49, both of Chicago, were taken into custody without any additional incident. Gordon faces a tentative charge of identity theft. Williams faces tentative charges of identity theft and eluding officers.
