A Frank Lloyd Wright archive of more than 23,000 architectural drawings and other material is moving to New York City.

The New York Times reports that the collection is being moved permanently to the Museum of Modern Art and Columbia University's Avery Architectural & Fine Arts Library. It has been housed at Wright's headquarters in Wisconsin and Arizona.

The institutions will share equally in the management of the collection. MoMA will house the models; the papers will be held at Avery.

The archive's caretaker, the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, decided to partner with the two institutions to ensure "the highest level of conservation and access in perpetuity." Its president, Sean Malone, said the foundation "didn't have the facilities or the infrastructure to do what MoMA and Columbia are."
