MADISON, Wis. -

A purse snatcher got more than he bargained for when he tried to steal a purse on Madison’s south side Monday night.

According to police, the would-be thief tried to steal a purse from a 41-year-old woman in the 220 block of south Park Street just before 9 p.m. Monday.

The blow caused the man to take off south toward West Badger Road.

Police are looking for a black man, 20-25 years old, five feet eight inches to five feet ten inches tall, with a medium complexion, last seen wearing baggy blue jean shorts and a baggy white T-shirt.
