Woman, 83, fined for spitting at Romney event
Protester will not face charges
A Wisconsin protester who spit on a Mitt Romney supporter last year during an event in Grand Chute will be fined but not criminally charged.
The August event was on behalf of the Republican presidential candidate, who was not in attendance. It was part of a statewide "Wisconsin Women for Mitt" tour.
Video from the event showed the 83-year-old Mary Hoglund interrupting Republican state Sen. Alberta Darling to ask about GOP opposition to Planned Parenthood.
A woman standing next to Hoglund chided her in a loud voice and said: "Wait until she's done. Zip it. Zip it." Hoglund told the woman to get out of her face and then spat on her.
A WLUK-TV report said a Green Lake County prosecutor recommended a $277 fine but no charges.
