Two boys were arrested after police said they were waving a replica gun at a gas station last week.
A 13-year-old was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct while armed and a minor in possession of a facsimile firearm Friday evening and a 15-year-old were arrested on suspicion of unlawful use of a facsimile firearm, according to the report.
Police said a Madison woman was pumping gas with her kids in the car at about 7:30 p.m. at an East Washington Ave. station when she told police she saw a group of males running with a handgun pointed at another person. She was afraid and called 911.
Officers responded, confronting the teens at gunpoint, police said.
Officers found an Airsoft gun in one of the boys’ backpacks and police said the 13-year-old admitted they had been waving the replica firearm around but that they were “just playing around being teenagers,” the report noted.
Police said the boy told officers that the stunt was “dumb.”
The arrested boys’ names are not included because they are juveniles.
