Even if science was not your best subject in school, there could be a career in the field for you.
Wisconsin Energy Institute hosted its first Energy Career Fair Friday.
Nearly two dozen Wisconsin-based employers came to the University of Wisconsin campus to talk to students about careers in the energy industry.
John Greenler, education director at WEI, said the industry is growing so fast that employers are looking for people with a variety of skills.
“We really are trying to branch out beyond that traditional view of energy being just science and engineering,” Greenler said. “While they are still important, we need much more.”
While science and engineering degrees continue to dominate the field, Greenler said virtually every career, including health care, will be vital to the industry in the near future.
WEI is hosting events all weekend to educate people about the industry and how it will function as an important part of the economy.
