Village president sentenced for stalking
Sturtevant village president sentenced for stalking former girlfriend
The president of a Racine County village has been sentenced to probation for stalking his former girlfriend for a year.
Racine County Judge Tim Boyle said Steven Jansen became "obsessive, manipulative and disturbed" in his pursuit of his ex-girlfriend. Boyle sentenced the 53-year-old president of Sturtevant to 1½ years of probation, fined him $1,000 and ordered him to have no contact with the woman. The judge stayed a 90-day jail term.
Jansen was accused of repeatedly calling and emailing the woman and leaving messages for her at her son's grave. The Journal Times said Jansen earlier pleaded no contest to two misdemeanors in an agreement with prosecutors.
