VERONA, Wis. -

Verona residents got an update on Thursday night about construction on County Highway M.

A meeting was held to show residents different designs and ideas, which include cross sections of roads, bike path connections and two major intersections.

Work is scheduled to be done on the highway in 2015 and 2016 between Cross Country Road and Prairie Hill Road. It’s an area that has seen so much growth in recent years that the road needs to expand.

Many residents say they like the designs, but also have some concerns.

“The main concern I hear is 'How soon can you do it?'” said Chris Petykowski, principle engineer for the project. “It’s a project that’s much needed. The road is in poor shape. it’s under capacity now.”

The project includes a roundabout and will cost $20 million to $22 million.
