Utilities restoring power lost during storm
Thousands reported without power
Thousands of Wisconsin residents who lost power in this week's rain and ice storms have had their electricity restored, and utility crews are continuing to restore the remaining customers.
About 1,300 We Energies customers remained without power Thursday morning, mostly in the Appleton and Neenah areas. Another 250 customers of Wisconsin Public Service also had no electricity, with most of them in the Oconto County region.
As many as 30,000 people lost power Wednesday. The most affected communities were those in the Lake Winnebago area. More than half were restored by Wednesday afternoon.
About a dozen schools in eastern Wisconsin were closed on Wednesday due to power outages. More than 20 others delayed opening for two hours.
