A man was able to escape a fire in his mobile home in the Town of Dunn on Tuesday morning.

Dane County sheriff's deputies and firefighters from several departments responded to a report at the home, located in the 800 block of Norman Drive, at about 10:03 a.m.

The man, who was inside the mobile home at the time, escaped the blaze after being alerted by a passerby who banged on his door.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the fire began in a 10x10 storage shed and then spread to the nearby mobile home. Both structures are considered a total loss, authorities said.

The damages are estimated at $20,000.

The Sheriff's Office said that the fire's cause remains under investigation.
