Thief charges nearly $2K to woman’s credit card, police say
Woman: Wallet stolen from purse while grocery shopping
Police said a Madison woman’s credit cards were charged more than $1,800 after her wallet was stolen at a North side grocery store Monday.
According to the report, the 27-year-old woman was shopping at Copps Food Center Monday at about 5 p.m. when she told police her wallet was lifted from her purse, which was in the shopping cart.
The woman also told police she received an e-mail from her credit card company Tuesday alerting her of possible fraudulent activity. The woman canceled her credit cards; however, the thief had already made nearly $2,000 in purchases with one or more cards at various locations, according to the report.
The Copps Food Center is located at 2502 Shopko Dr.
