Suspect arrested in Wis. service dog hit-and-run
Service dog killed from impact
Waukesha police have arrested a man suspected in a hit-and-run that killed a service dog.
An officer on Thursday evening spotted a sport utility vehicle matching the description of the one involved in the June 8 hit-and-run that injured a pedestrian and killed her service dog. The SUV turned out to be the one police were seeking.
Police arrested a 29-year-old Milwaukee man.
Police said he admitted his involvement in the hit-and-run of the woman but said he did not realize he had struck the dog.
The suspect was cited for hit and run causing injury, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and failure to yield right of way while making a left-hand turn, according to police.
He was released, they added.
