PRAIRIE DU SAC, Wis. -

The Columbia County Sheriff's Office said a 17-year-old driver who ran a stop sign was killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon.

The Columbia County Sheriff's Office received a report at 1:10 p.m. of a crash on state Highway 60 at state Highway 188 just east of the Wisconsin River at Prairie Du Sac.

Sheriff's officials said a car was traveling north on state Highway 188 and failed to stop at the stop sign. The car continued into the intersection and was struck by a sport utility vehicle that was traveling east on state Highway 60, sheriff's officials said.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Officials identified the victim as Kyle Patrick Caraher, 17, of Northbrook, Ill.

The SUV's driver, a 27-year-old man from rural Lodi, was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries. He was treated and released at Sauk-Prairie Memorial Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation by the Columbia County Sheriff's Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
