Law enforcement officers from around the state are paying their respects to a Milwaukee County Sheriff's deputy killed while on duty last week.
The officers are joining family and friends at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Milwaukee where a funeral service is being held for Sergio Aleman. The 49-year-old deputy died July 31 after his sheriff's truck hit the back of a flatbed tow truck on Interstate 43 near downtown Milwaukee.
A procession of law enforcement officers will accompany Aleman's body from the church to St. Adalbert Cemetery.
A statement from the Aleman family said he was a loving husband, dedicated father and friend to many. Aleman had been with the sheriff's department for 18 years. He and his wife have five children.
