Sandwich shop robberies might be linked
Two incidents both Saturday night, miles apart
The robbery of a sandwich shop on Madison’s east side could be linked to a similar case 3 miles away and minutes later, according to Madison police.
Employees at Jimmy John’s at 1791 Thierer Rd. were working in the store after closing it when at about 9:30 Saturday night when a man entered the unlocked door, walked to the cash register and demanded to know where the money had gone, according to police. The drawer had already been emptied.
The man is described as black, 30 to 35 years old, 6 feet 3 inches, weighing 200 to 250 pounds, with facial stubble and wearing a dark jacket with a hood and a dark stocking hat.
Police said they believe the incident could be linked to a similar sandwich shop robbery on Johnson Street.
