WINNEBAGO CO., Ill. -

Police in Illinois are investigating the death of a baby found on a conveyor belt at a recycling center located near the Illinois-Wisconsin state line.

WIFR-TV reported that Winnebago County sheriff's deputies were called to the Total Waste Recycling plant just outside of Rockton about 8:45 Friday morning.

Workers were separating garbage from recyclables when they saw the body, according to WIFR-TV.

According to the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department, the baby may have been stuffed into a container and brought to the facility by a garbage truck.

"We thought it was a dead animal but when we got closer, we found out it was a baby," said John Sioberio, an employee at Total Waste Recycling who discovered the infant with his co-workers.

Finding where the baby came from will be difficult, said detectives, since trucks from all over the state line use the facility daily.

The Winnebago County Coroner said she named the infant "Baby Noah" because she felt the baby deserved some dignity.

An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.

Rockton is located about 5 miles south of Beloit, Wis.
