A South Wayne man was arrested on suspicion of first offense operating while intoxicated after a crash that followed the sideswiping of another vehicle, according to the Green County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were called to the W8200 block of Highway 11 in Cadiz Township at 9:52 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a two-vehicle crash.
Investigators said Cory J. Czechowski, 27, of South Wayne, was westbound on Highway 11 when his vehicle crossed the center line and sideswiped a southbound vehicle driven by Tyler A. Plath, 19, of Warren, Ill.
Czechowski's vehicle continued down the road until it struck a guard rail, went into a ditch and hit a utility pole, according to deputies.
Czechowski was injured but was not transported to a hospital. His passenger, Steven T. Czechowski, 22, of South Wayne, was transported to a hospital.
Plath was not injured.
Cory Czechowski was arrested on suspicion of first offense OWI and cited on suspicion of operating left of center, operating a vehicle without insurance, failure to wear a seat belt and driving with a prohibited alcohol concentration.
