MADISON, Wis. -

A Fitchburg woman was arrested Sunday after an identity theft investigation that started with a residential burglary.

Madison police said a woman’s purse was stolen from a car in a garage on Taychopera Road Sept. 13. The credit cards from the 46-year-old victim’s purse were later used on three separate occasions to buy eight iPads and liquor, according to police.

Surveillance video showed Jasmine L. Bauer, 20, using the victim’s credit card to buy four iPads at one Target store and four more at a second Target store the same morning the cards were stolen, according to police.

Police said a stolen credit card was also used to buy a $50 bottle of liquor from a liquor store.

Bauer was arrested on suspicion of three counts of identity theft.
