Police: OWI suspect was driving 20 mph on Beltline
Man arrested on 4th OWI charge
Madison police said a suspected drunken driver was arrested Saturday night after a Madison police officer saw his pickup truck drifting between lanes while traveling at about 20 mph on the West Beltline Highway.
A Madison Police officer was driving the West Beltline Highway about 8 p.m. Saturday when he noticed a long line of westbound vehicles backed up in the right lane, moving very slowly near the Verona Road exit, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.
The officer got behind the pickup truck, which was at the head of the pack, and the driver eventually pulled over near Whitney Way, police said.
The driver, identified as Jesse L. Reese, 30, of Osseo, gave the officer his keys and said, "I'm done. I did bad," according to the incident report.
The Osseo man said he was going "to my house" and thought he had been driving at the posted speed limit, police said.
Police said Reese was arrested on a charge of fourth-offense operating a motor vehicle while under the influence.
