Madison police said a 17-year-old Madison man was arrested after attacking a 23-year-old Waunakee man and breaking the windshield on the victim's car.

Police said jealousy appears to be the motive behind an attack that took place in the 3700 block of West Karstens Drive about 11 p.m. Sunday on the city's north side.

The victim said he was assaulted inside an apartment building after dropping a woman friend at her home, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.

Police said the suspect, identified as Isaiah J. Johnson, apparently has feelings for the same woman.

Johnson encountered the Waunakee man in a common area of the building and grabbed him by the hair, police said.

The victim said the teen threatened to kill him while punching him two or three times in the face, according to the incident report.

Police said others were able to intervene, and the victim thought the violence was over as he returned to his car.

But the victim said that while outside his car, the suspect hurled two bottles at him, according to the incident report.

One of the bottles bounced off the ground, and the second hit his windshield, police said.

Madison police arrived moments later and arrested Johnson on charges of battery, disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property, according to the incident report.
