MADISON, Wis. -

A concerned citizen alerted police to a man who staggered from a damaged car and was later connected to a hit-and-run crash, according to Madison police.

Officers were called to the 2600 block of Ardsley Circle at 9:06 p.m. Thursday when the citizen saw the man leave his car, which police said was parked in a traffic lane.

Police said they believe Craig D. Johnson, 42, drove his car into a nearby building causing airbags to deploy and flattening a front tire.

Johnson had a cut hand and denied being the driver, according to police.

He was arrested on suspicion of third offense operating while intoxicated, hit-and-run and operating while revoked.
