Pit bull leaps off balcony, attacks dog

Owner injured after coming to pet's defense

MILWAUKEE -

Milwaukee police said a dog walker required surgery after a pit bull leaped from a second-story balcony and attacked his own dog.

Police said the 55-year-old man came to the defense of his pet and wrestled the pit bull off his dog, but the man suffered bites to his face, arms, legs, and torso.

The man was out walking his dog about 5 p.m. Saturday when the attack occurred. Police said responding officers located the pit bull and shot it twice with a shotgun, killing the aggressor dog.

The victim was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital with serious bite wounds.
