Authorities in west-central Wisconsin said a small plane has crashed during takeoff, killing the lone occupant.
The Buffalo County Sheriff's Office said a witness called 911 just before noon Sunday to report a crash at the Durand Municipal Airport. Authorities said the single-seat ultralight airplane crashed while taking off.
The pilot was killed on impact. He has been identified as Douglas Kadinger, of Durand.
KAGE radio reported Buffalo County Sheriff Michael Schmidtknecht said Kadinger had purchased the ultralight airplane just a few weeks ago.
Federal Aviation Administration investigators are looking into the cause of the crash.
