TOWN OF CHESTER, Wis. -

Eight people were injured in a head-on crash involving a pickup truck and a van Wednesday morning.

A pickup truck driven by a Watertown man was traveling northbound on State Highway 26 near County Highway I and crossed the center line, striking a van that was traveling southbound on State Highway 26 about 9:20 a.m., according to a Dodge County Sheriff's Office news release.

The van's driver saw the truck cross the center line and attempted to avoid the collision by slowing a merging onto the west shoulder, but the truck struck the van in the left front, causing it to overturn, sheriff's officials said.

There were eight people in the van. Four passengers were evacuated by ambulance to Waupun Memorial Hospital and the other four passengers were taken to Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

Sheriff's officials said the victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and the driver of the truck wasn't injured.

The Dodge County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash.
