Parents of kidnapping suspect face charges
Man accused of beating, kidnapping wife
The parents of a man accused of beating and kidnapping his wife are also facing charges.
A newly released criminal complaint charges Victor Uscanga with party to a crime of kidnapping and his wife, Maria Trinidad, with obstructing an officer.
Victor Uscanga and his son, Andres Uscanga, 20, entered not guilty pleas in court Thursday.
Andres Uscanga is facing charges of kidnapping, disarming a police officer, escape, battery and bail jumping after a search for his wife that ended with Uscanga's arrest on Jan. 1.
Investigators believe Andres Uscanga beat his wife at his parents' home on Madison's west side and took her against her will to a hotel in Lake Delton, according to a search warrant.
Police said they took Andres Uscanga into custody at the hotel and found the woman on Jan. 1.
The warrant said that during interviews with police, the woman had "two black eyes and numerous bruises" that she said Andres Uscanga caused.
The woman told police she didn't try to get away from Andres Uscanga because she was "scared I'd probably get beat up again."
The woman had recently filed for divorce from Andres Uscanga, according to court records.
