Motorcyclists injured in 3 separate crashes
Motorcyclists in Dane County arrested on OWI charges
Four motorcyclists were injured in three separate crashes Saturday in southern Wisconsin.
Dane County sheriff's deputies and Sun Prairie EMS crews responded to two separate crashes involving motorcycles in the Town of Bristol.
The first crash occurred at about 4 p.m. and involved a man going southbound on County Highway N who lost control of his motorcycle as he was slowing to make a turn onto Muller Road.
The driver, Daniel G. McIntosh, 56, of Sun Prairie, was transported to the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison for injuries sustained in the crash. Sheriff's officials said he was also arrested on a charge of first-offense operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and cited for failure to maintain control.
Sheriff's officials said the second crash occurred a short while later as Casey J. Ehlers, 25, of Sun Prairie, was driving a miniature motorcycle in front of his home. Ehlers drove up from the ditch and onto the paved surface of Vinburn Road, where he subsequently lost control of his vehicle and slid across the roadway, sheriff's officials said.
Ehlers was transported by Med Flight to UW Hospital for injuries to his head and arms. Ehlers was arrested on a charge of third-offense operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and cited for failure to maintain control, according to a Dane County Sheriff's Department news release.
Neither motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, according to sheriff's officials.
In Green County, sheriff's deputies responded at about 12 p.m. Saturday to County Highway J at County Highway H in the Township of York, New Glarus, for a report of a crash.
Green County sheriff's officials said an investigation determined that Jeremie J. Dippel, 38, of Fredonia, Wis., and Brad James Duggan, 38, of Marion, Iowa, were driving individual motorcycles in a large group of motorcycles traveling south bound on County Highway J approaching County Highway H.
Dippel, who was in front of Duggan, did not realize the group was going to turn eastbound on Highway H. Dippel then attempted to slow his motorcycle to make the turn onto Highway H when he lost control of the cycle on a patch of gravel in the intersection and skidded into the path of Duggan's motorcycle, according to a Green County Sheriff's Department news release.
Dippel then collided with Duggan, causing both motorcycles to overturn. Dippel and Duggan were partially ejected from their motorcycles, according to sheriff's officials.
Duggan suffered an injury which required transport to a hospital. Dippel suffered injuries but declined medical attention, authorities said. Both operators were wearing helmets at time of the crash.
