AVOCA, Wis. -

A 20-year-old man was airlifted to a Madison hospital after being trampled by cattle in Iowa County on Tuesday morning.

The Iowa County Sheriff's Department said it responded to a 911 call at about 10 a.m. Tuesday reporting that a man had been trampled by cattle at a farm in rural Avoca.

Sheriff's officials said people were loading cattle at the Tony Bomkamp Farm and there were three head of cattle that didn't want to go into the trailer.

The victim, Sheldy J. Page, of rural Muscoda, attempted to stop the cattle but they ran over him, according to an Iowa County Sheriff's Department news release.

The cattle were contained so that paramedics could attend to Page. He was unconscious but breathing.

Sheriff's officials said the victim was taken by Med Flight to the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison with unknown injuries.
