Madison police said a 27-year-old Madison man was shot in the leg by a man who approached him from behind, grabbed him and demanded all his "stuff".
The victim told police the incident happened as he was standing outside his vehicle in the 900 block of Emerald Street at about 9:50 p.m. on Monday. He said he saw that the mugger had a handgun pointed at him, so he pushed away. The victim said he heard a gun go off and the gunman fled.
The victim was struck in the leg and driven to a hospital for treatment. His injury is not life-threatening.
The gunman is described as black, 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a thin build, dark complexion, 1-inch afro hair style and goatee. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans.
