TOWN OF YORK, Wis. -

A man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash in a road work zone on U.S. Highway 151 on Monday morning.

Dane County sheriff's deputies said they responded at about 9:45 a.m. to a report of a crash on U.S. Highway 151, just south of County Highway V in the Town of York.

Sheriff's officials said Jane F. Bloss, 45, of Sun Prairie, was driving a Kia Spectra southbound on U.S. Highway 151 when she failed to notice that traffic in front of her was slowing down due to road construction.

She collided with a Honda Civic driven by Johanna A. Thurston, 37, of Reeseville, sheriff's officials said.

Thurston had three passengers in her vehicle: Kirk Thurston, 44, and two boys ages 1 and 2.

Kirk Thurston suffered serious injuries and was transported by Med Flight to the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, according to a Dane County Sheriff's Office news release.

Both children were in child restraint seats and were not injured, as was the case for Johanna Thurston.

Bloss suffered minor injuries and was transported by EMS to Columbus Hospital. Sheriff's officials said Bloss was issued a citation for following too close.

Sheriff's officials urged drivers to be extra cautious in road construction zones.
